Prof. Dr. ir. Tom Verstraten ( Belgium)

Tom Verstraten (1989) is a professor at the Robotics & Multibody Mechanics Research Group (R&MM) of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). He received his Master in Electromechanical Engineering from the VUB in 2012 and his Ph.D. from the same institution in 2018. In between, he worked in industry for a year (Aquasystems International nv, a manufacturer of wastewater treatment equipment).
For his Master's thesis, he received the ie-net award for best Master's thesis in engineering. Furthermore, he was awarded fellowships of the Research Foundation - Flanders (FWO) for both his doctoral and postdoctoral research. Tom also worked as a visiting researcher at TU Darmstadt (Germany) for a period of four months in 2017 and at the University of Tulsa (United States) for a period of eight months in 2018-19. For this research stay, he was awarded a Fulbright grant for visiting scholars. His research focuses on the analysis and design of robotic prostheses, exoskeletons, and collaborative robots, with an emphasis on energy-efficient actuation systems.

Med Dr Ioan GALATAS (GREECE)

Brigadier General (ret.) Ioannis Galatas, MD, MSc, Greek Army MC (male) has 35 years of military industry experience. He is a graduate of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Medical School, specialized in Allergy and Clinical Immunology. Since 2001, he is a CBRNE planner and trained instructor (including LA training) in a number of countries abroad. During the 2004 Athens Olympics, he served as Commandant of the Olympic Hospital CBRN Response Unit. He holds an M.A. degree on “International Terrorism, Organized Crime & Global Security” from Coventry University, UK (2010) and he is a PhD candidate (Athens Medical School/Dept. of Forensics & Toxicology). His last appointment (-2010), was as Head, Department of Asymmetric Threats, Joint Military Intelligence Service, Hellenic National Defense General Staff, Athens. After retirement, he delivers CBRNE classes for Abu Dhabi Police Authority and continues to participate as invited speaker in many CBRNE/security conferences, congresses and workshops around the globe. Currently he is the Editor-in-Chief of the monthly on-line “C2BRNE Diary” (2005-2015) distributed to >80 countries worldwide and Research Associate at the Centre for Security Studies (KEMEA), of the Hellenic Ministry of Interior. As of January 2015, he is a member of the Didactical Board and delivers classes at University of Rome "Tor Vergata" for its "International CBRNe Masters" courses.

Col er Claude LEFEBVRE (France)

Former General Director of the NBC Education Ministry of Defence, Draguignan- (FRA).
An expert consultant in the CBRN field after more than 37 years of service in the French Army as a specialist in the field, he has acquired a solid experience that he puts to good use by companies, organizations and companies that entrust him with research and development missions, CBRN project management assistance or specific training.

As a NATO CBRN officer, he participated in several major exercises, including as Deputy Commander of the Joint Assessment Team NRBC (JAT NRBC), as well as as Controller of the CBRN teams of the Eurocorps. For his services, he was distinguished as a Knight of the Legion of Honor and the National Order of Merit.

Since 2013, he has been using his expertise to collaborate with companies and industrial companies specializing in the development of CBRN defense systems. He also leads training
sessions at the International CBRN Institute of Belgium

Prof Dr  Simone Keller Füchter (Brazil)

Dr. Simone Keller Füchter holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the State University of Santa Catarina (UDESC/ESAG) and a Ph.D. in Production and Systems Engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). She also holds an MBA in Global Management from the State University of Santa Catarina (UDESC) and the University of Porto (Brazil/Portugal).She works as an IT consultant specializing in Mixed Reality and Generative Artificial Intelligence at KF Tecnologia e Marketing. As a researcher, she focuses on innovation through the use of new technologies in training, simulations, education, and marketing. She has conducted significant research at the Centro Universitário Estácio de Sá de Santa Catarina and the Universidade do Sul de Santa Catarina (UNISUL).Recently, she carried out consultancy projects for WEG Motors, involving an Augmented Reality application for electric motors. She delivered the lecture "Augmented Reality in Aviation for Pilots and Technicians" for the XR Community of Practice at Johnson Space Center - NASA Houston at the Gilruth Center NASA-JSC, Discovery Room. She also presented the talk "Augmented Reality for Technical Training" for NASA employees at IEEE, in the same venue. She holds a Private Pilot certification from the Aeroclub of Santa Catarina.

Her current focus is on the application of Generative AI for code development and solutions in the field of computer graphics, utilizing advanced techniques. She has delivered lectures in significant countries such as Brazil, China, the United States, Germany, Chile, Italy, Spain, Hungary, Romania, and the United Kingdom. In the latter, she presented at the University of Cambridge on the topic of Augmented Reality in Sustainable Development.She is also actively involved in volunteer work, serving as an advisor in the field of Augmented Reality (AR) at the KSC International Space Academy, Space Camp Journey to Mars, and Science Days. She participated as a mentor in programs such as the International Air and Space Program (IASP) by AEXA Aerospace LLC in Houston, USA, and IASP STEMxGIRLS, with a focus on encouraging more girls to enter STEM fields. Her role involved selecting European university students to receive scholarships for the IASP program held at the Space Camp of the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral. The program included students from Sweden, Austria, and Italy, as well as Brazil.

She is a member of the Technical Committee IMEKO TC17 - Measurement in Robotics, serving as the Subcommittee Augmented Reality Chair and IMEKO TC17 Scientific Secretary.

Prof Dr Ir Ioan DOROFTEI (Romania)

Prof. Ioan Doroftei graduated Mechanical Engineering Faculty at the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iasi, Romania, in 1986, with highest distinction. He received his PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, in June 1998, from the same university.

Since September 1986 till September 1990, he worked in industry, as designer engineer, for three companies. Since October 1990, he started the academic career with the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iasi, Romania, as Assistant Professor till February 1995, then as Lecturer till February 1999 and as Associate Professor till February 2003. In February 2003, he is appointed as full Professor, teaching Theory of Mechanisms and Machines, Basis Robotics and Mobile Robotics. Since 2016, he is the Head of the Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics and Robotics Department. He is also the Director of the Research Center on Mechatronics and Robotics, since 2022. During the years 2010 – 2022, he was the Scientific Director of the Research Center on Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics and Robotics. Since September 1997 till September 2024, he has been an associate professor at the "Grigore T. Popa" University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Iasi, Faculty of Medical Bioengineering, teaching Robotics for Rehabilitation.

Between 1995 and 2002, Prof. Ioan Doroftei carried out more research internships at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, Service des Constructions Mécanique et Robotique, Belgium (post-doctoral internship, 01.01.1999 – 31.12.2001; TEMPUS individual mobility 01.04.1995 – 30.06.1995; «subside à savant» scholarship – visiting researcher, 01.10.1997 – 31.12.1997, 01.03.1997 – 31.05.1997, 01.02.1996 – 30.04.1996) and at the Royal Military Academy of Brussels, Mechatronics and Robotics Laboratory (external consultant, 01.07.2002 – 30.09.2002). Also, between 2003 – 2014, he carried out numerous ERASMUS internships at: Royal Military Academy of Brussels, Technical University of Kaiserslautern, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, University of Mihno.

Prof. Ioan Doroftei was a visiting professor at Université Blais Pascal, Clermont-Ferrand, France, (during the periods: 09.11.2014 – 22.11.2014; 12.10.2014 – 25.10.2014; 07.10.2013 – 19.10.2013; 01.04.2013 – 14.04.2013; 15.10.2012 – 28.10.2012) and at the Technical University of Moldova, Chisinau (since September 2020 till June 2021).

Prof. Ioan Doroftei is Corresponding Member of the Technical Sciences Academy of Romania and Associate Member of the Academy of Romanian Scientists.He is a member of the Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics and Robotics Committee for National Commission for the Attestation of University Titles, Diplomas and Certificates (CNATDCU), since 2011; He was also a member of Committee 10 – Engineering Sciences I permanent experts – for Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ARACIS), between January 2019 and November 2022; He was President of the Romanian Association for the Theory of Mechanisms and Machines (ARoTMM) and representative of Romania (Chair of Member Organization Romania) at the International Federation for the Promotion of Mechanism and Machine Science (IFToMM), between 2013 and 2022; Since January 2023 he is Vice-President of this association; He is a member of the Technical Committee for Linkages and Mechanical Controls and of the Technical Committee for Robotics and Mechatronics, IFToMM, since 2019; He is First Vice President of the Romanian Robotics Society (SRR), affiliated with the International Federation of Robotics – IFR, since 2021; He is a member of the International Measurement Confederation – IMEKO, TC17 – Measurement in Robotics, since 2019.

Prof. Ioan Doroftei organized three international summer schools for doctoral students, between 2009 and 2012, and several international conferences. He is a reviewer for numerous prestigious international journals and international conferences. He has been a member of the scientific committees of numerous international conferences and symposia. He is an associate editor of the Robotica journal (Cambridge University Press), topic editor for Actuators and Materials journals, member of the editorial board for the International Journal of Advance Robotics & Expert Systems (JARES), member of the scientific board for: Bulletin of the Polytechnic Institute of Iasi - Machine constructions Section; ROBOTICA & MANAGEMENT-International Journal, edited by the Romanian Robotics Society; Bulletin of the Transilvania University of Brasov, Series I: Engineering Sciences.

His scientific research activity is mainly oriented in the field of robotics and mechatronics and also in the field of mechanisms and machine science.
