Sambreville (Auvelais)

Located in Wallonia, in the province of Namur, Sambreville is a municipality made up of 7 entities: Arsimont, Auvelais, Falisolle, Keumiée, Moignelée, Tamines and Velaine-sur-Sambre. It is located south of the E42 Wallonia motorway, halfway between Namur and Charleroi (exit "Sambreville").
Brussels South Charleroi Airport is about ten kilometres away.
Watered by the Sambre and the Biesme, Sambreville has been strongly marked by its industrial and glass-making past and has kept a dynamic face, although it has now been converted into a rural and semi-residential region.
Many associations are active in the area and work in a wide variety of fields (help for the poor, integration of foreigners, socio-professional integration, neighbourhood committees, folklore, associations for the elderly, youth movements, artists, etc.) making Sambreville particularly open and warm. Sambreville was officially recognised as one of the seven martyred towns in Belgium (along with Aarschot, Andenne, Dendermonde, Dinant, Leuven and Visé) following a massacre perpetrated during the German invasion on 22 August 1914 in Tamines, resulting in 384 innocent victims and a hundred wounded.  The commune of Sambreville has 28,462 inhabitants.

 

 

The International CBRNE Institute

The Institute has a twofold mission, workshops & seminars and being a centre of expertise where CBRNE experts, national and international agencies and organisations can find the necessary knowledge and skills for the mitigation of CBRNE threatsThe ICI currently creates a European Center for multidisciplinary practical training
